Asahi Beverages boss departs

Screen Shot 2015-02-24 at 11.08.01 AMAsahi Beverages CEO, David Beguely, has resigned after less than a year as chief.

Beguely, previously MD of Schweppes Australia, was appointed to the role in June last year following the merger of Asahi’s Australian and New Zealand alcohol division, Asahi Premium Beverages, and non-alcohol arm, Schweppes Australia, to create Asahi Beverages.

The role of Asahi Beverages CEO will now be assumed by the current group CEO for Asahi Australia, Atsushi Katsuki, creating a single CEO for the Oceania Region which includes Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific islands.

“I would like to acknowledge the tremendous history that David has had with this organisation across the former Cadbury Schweppes business and Schweppes Australia business over the past 25 years,” Atsushi Katsuki, group CEO, AHA said.

“Since forming Schweppes Australia in April 2009, David has shown outstanding leadership to develop the business, creating the brand, and establishing the company as a strong competitor in the Australian market place.

“More recently, David has established the Asahi Beverages business, bringing together the Schweppes Australia, Asahi Premium Beverages, and Independent Liquor NZ, businesses together. He leaves the company in a very strong position,” Katsuki said.

Beguely will leave the business from March 11.
