Foodland expands in SA

Screen Shot 2015-03-03 at 12.43.13 PMFoodland will double its presence in Wallaroo, South Australia, after signing up to anchor the new Wallaroo Shopping Centre development.

Colliers International’s Ben Laycock, exclusive retail leasing agent for the project, said the deal for Foodland to relocate from its existing site in Wallaroo to a 2500sqm supermarket in the new shopping centre will revitalise the main street.

Located in the York Peninsula, around two hours from Adelaide, Wallaroo Shopping Centre is a joint venture between Drake Foodland and a local developer.

Anchor tenant, Foodland, will be supported by a Cellarbrations liquor outlet and nine specialty retail outlets.

It will be surrounded by landscaping, open grassed areas, and a modern piazza style outdoor area providing parking for more than 300 cars.

“We are seeking quality retailers to join Foodland at Wallaroo Shopping Centre,” Laycock said.

“This could range from bakery, café, and take away food merchants to medical, dental, hair and beauty, newsagent or real estate agent services.

‘We have had a considerable amount of interest from local business as well as retailers from nearby towns such as Moonta, Port Hughes, and Kadina and those farther afield in Port Wakefield and Gawler.”

Currently under construction, Wallaroo Shopping Centre is expected to open around September 2015.
