Cairns pharmacy wins top gong

unnamedPease St Discount Drug Store in Cairns, Queensland has won GuildCare’s third annual Pharmacy of the Year award.

Pease St Discount Drug Store received the award at the Australian Pharmacy Professional (APP) 2015 Conference, with the Cairns pharmacy beating more than 4000 pharmacies currently using the GuildCare programs, to win the award.

This win also marks the second year in a row that a Discount Drug Store has taken home the prestigious award, as its Eight Mile Plains store won last year.

Judged by how pharmacies implement GuildCare’s 5CPA Pharmacy Practice Incentives, 5CPA Medication Management, Private Service, Patient Adherence Programs, and Admin Module, Pease Street Discount Drug Store took home $5000 for winning.

Managing pharmacist, Aylin Ektem, said the team is thrilled to receive the award and attributes the win to their focus on providing customers with a wide range of professional health services.

“Professional service is incredibly important to our entire team,” Ektem said.

“Our core focus is on improving health and wellbeing in our local region and GuildCare’s programs play a fundamental role in ensuring that we achieve this.”

Part of the Federal Government and pharmacy industry’s strategy to have better health outcomes in Australia, GuildCare’s programs aim to improve customer compliance and adherence to medications and to provide more free in store health checks and intervention services.

Over the year in which the award was judged, Pease St Discount Drug Store, which has recently undergone a large expansion, provided a diverse range of healthcare services in line with the GuildCare programs, including New to Therapy and Compliance programs to help customers understand their medications better.

“These services offered have become synonymous with our pharmacy. Patients trust and acknowledge the recommendations we give and as a result, return and remain loyal customers,” said Ektem.
