unnamed-1 Australian-owned packaging company, Omniverse Group, has launched new packaging technology that gives consumers additional information and content on products using a smartphone.

The Melbourne-based company was started in 2013 and specialises in digital immersive technologies and said the 3D immersive technology, Omniverse Reality,  now “brings everyday print and packaging to life”.

Brendan Yee, CEO of Omniverse Group, said that with the advent of smartphones product packaging is on the cusp of a digital revolution.

“Tomorrow’s supermarkets are also top of mind. As the current generation of tech savvy shoppers continues to grow, so will the need for technology that makes the experience appealing and enjoyable. Omniverse Reality means companies can interrelate with consumers at the shelves,” he said.

Yee also said the new techonology is ideal for export markets

“The technology is also aimed fairly and squarely at export markets where packaging can be overlaid in multiple language formats making it quintessential for food exporters, and a key benefit when selling abroad,” said Yee.
