Zambrero releases muesli bar range

Mexican food franchise, Zambrero, is partnering with Australia’s largest hunger relief organisation, Foodbank, to tackle Australian hunger through the introduction of two new retail lines.

To be stocked at Zambrero’s 73 Australian locations, Zambrero’s new muesli bar range is available in two flavours, Almonds, Honey Muesli, Goji Berries and Amaranth Puff, and Cashews, Honey Muesli, Lime, Chia Seeds and a Hint of Chilli.

Zambrero currently operates a Plate 4 Plate initiative instore where, for every burrito or bowl Zambrero sells it donates a meal to someone in need.

“Until now our aid efforts were focused overseas, but on learning two million Australians now rely on food relief we’ve partnered with Foodbank to do something about the hunger problem in our own backyard for the first time,”  Karim Messih, GM of Zambrero said.

Extending the Plate 4 Plate philosophy, each muesli bar sold at $3.90 will fund a Foodbank breakfast meal for an Australian in need.

Jason Hincks, CEO of Foodbank Australia, said hunger is a hidden crisis in our own backyard with one in 10 Australians, half of whom are children, seeking food relief each year.

“Despite our best efforts over 60,000 people are still being turned away from charities empty handed each month due to a shortage of food and resources. This new commitment by Zambrero will help us to bridge that gap and achieve our vision of an Australia without hunger,” Hincks said.

Zambrero will further support Foodbank through counter sales of take home packs of Forbidden Foods Black Rice.

Retailing for $7.90, each 500g pack sold will fund the provision of a rice and beans meal via Foodbank.

Zambrero introduced high protein, black rice powerbowls to its restaurant menu in December.

It is the only quick service restaurant franchise serving black rice, and it has supply exclusivity from premium Australian supplier, Forbidden Foods.

“Our black rice counter displays will include four recipe cards promoting our Foodbank partnership to encourage customers to both eat well and do good,” says Messih.
