The product, to be stocked at Woolworths stores nationally from October, is compatible with Nespresso coffee machines, and has an intensity rating of 14, making it the strongest on the market.
South Australian-based PODiSTA was the first in Australia to launch double shot coffee capsules, released in October and also available at Woolworths.
“The double espresso capsule was developed to meet the growing demand from customers and consumers wanting stronger espresso style coffee to enjoy at home,” said Neale Wood, GM, Grinders.
“The double espresso capsules have preformed really well in all our tasting panels. Delivering that strength of coffee without compromising on taste was our goal and the team has done an excellent job in developing the perfect blend of great-tasting coffee with a kick. We are anticipating a strong response,” he added.
Since the capsule range launched in June, strong sales have seen Grinders achieve a 20 per cent market share of the Nespresso-compatible capsule market in Coles. Similar success has been achieved in Woolworths, where the success of capsules has helped Grinders become the fastest-growing coffee brand.
The new capsules will retail at $6.49 for a 10-pack.
