7-Eleven appoints new CEO Angus McKay

mckay7-Eleven has appointed Angus McKay as CEO, following a global recruitment search.

McKay takes over from interim CEO Bob Baily, who will remain a member of the 7-Eleven Board. “Angus has a long and successful history across a range of industries and in many parts of the world where he has brought a strategic approach to business development as well as operational capability and efficiency, which are all important attributes to building the new 7-Eleven,” said the company chairman, Michael Smith.

McKay’s global business experiences include technology, FMCG, transport and industrials. Recently, he was CEO and managing director of Skilled Group Ltd. He has also served as managing editor of Pacific National Rail, as well as CFO of Asciano Ltd. and Foster’s Group Ltd.

Smith said the appointment of McKay is crucial to advancing the company’s strategic reform programme and that his appointment will ensure that 7-Eleven’s workplaces will be fair, efficient and customer focused.

“I am committed to building a strong relationship with our franchisees and enabling them to run their stores in a way that delivers value for them as small business people, provides innovative and quality products and outstanding service for customers and where stores are satisfying places to work,” said McKay.

“The strategic reform programme sponsored by the chairman is a central plank in our future and it will continue being implemented across the organisation as the basis for enhanced governance and oversight and having the people and culture to ensure our business is the best it can be.”

McKay was most recently the CEO and MD of Skilled Group Limited and will take up his new position effective immediately.
