The Australian dollar is flat on mixed US markets.
At 0700 AEST, the local unit was trading at 72.57 US cents, unchanged from Wednesday.
Westpac chief market strategist Imre Speizer said that while the Aussie was set to reverse its Wednesday gains, mixed US markets kept the currency trading within a narrow range overnight.
“Sentiment rebounded early in New York, helping equities, oil and interest rates erase earlier losses,” he said.
“The US, though, remained weak throughout.”
However, Speizer said that, depending on retail sales and trade data due on Thursday, the Aussie could rally again.
“Momentum is building for a push above 73 US cents,” he added.
