Deliveroo launches new delivery-only kitchen concept
Dubbed ‘Deliveroo Editions’ and located in the heart of the Chapel Street district in Melbourne, the new site is equipped with bespoke kitchen spaces collecting seven well known Australian restaurants into a single house of brands and comes about after extensive market analysis using data unique to Deliveroo.
Based on its data, Deliveroo said it can identify cuisines missing in an area, predict customer demand, and handpick the restaurants that will be successful with Deliveroo Editions. In future, the concept will also include an ‘incubator space’ for up and coming new chefs to launch a presence in the Australian food scene.
Deliveroo said the launch in Australia comes after the successful launch of the platform across the UK, Europe and Asia, which it said has seen restaurants reporting over 550 per cent increase in revenues and an approximate 10 per cent increase in delivery efficiency.
Chris Lucas, head of restaurant business The Lucas Group – which owns Baby, Kong, Hawker Hall, Chin Chin and Kisum – has now launched new delivery-only restaurants, DiDi Dumpling and Yubi.
Lucas said the new platform was “very much in line with our philosophy to ensure our food is delivered in a manner that is consistent with our reputation of creating the most exciting restaurants in Australia.”
Levi Aron, general manager Deliveroo Australia said the platform “is the biggest development in the market since Deliveroo first launched, and it’s just the beginning.”
Gelato chain Messina will deliver five exclusive new products to Melbourne customers via Deliveroo Editions.
“It’s really exciting for us to be part of the first Deliveroo Editions site in Australia. It gives us a great opportunity to deliver custom products to our customers, whenever they want them,” said Declan Lee, co-owner of Messina.
Deliveroo Editions will bring Baby, Kong, DiDi Dumpling, Yubi, 8Bit, Up in Smoke and Messina to customers living and working across Windsor, South Yarra, St Kilda, Richmond, Toorak and Prahran. Multiple Deliveroo Editions sites are planned for launch across Australia throughout 2018.
