Metcash announces new chief of Supermarkets & Convenience pillar

scott-marshall-ceo-almMetcash Limited has announced today Scott Marshall’s appointment as chief executive of the Supermarkets & Convenience pillar, following the resignation of Steven Cain.

The company said in a statement Cain has accepted a position based in Melbourne, after community between Sydney and Melbourne for the past three years. Cain will be the new managing director of Coles.

“We understand Cain’s decision to be based in Melbourne and thank him for his contribution in his role as CEO of Supermarkets & Convenience. We are fortunate to have a strong leadership team, and Marshall is well placed to take over as the CEO of Supermarkets & Convenience,” said Metcash Group chief executive officer, Jeff Adams said.

Metcash said Marshall was chief executive of the company’s Liquor business for the past four years and has more than 25 years of experience in wholesale and retail with the business, including in the Supermarkets business where he formerly led the Western Australia operations.

“Marshall has well established relationships with our Supermarkets’ retail network through his position as CEO of Liquor, and from his prior time in Supermarkets,” said Metcash in a statement.

Rod Pritchard, general manager Merchandise for the Liquor pillar, was also appointed interim chief executive Liquor. He has extensive experience in the liquor industry including three years at Metcash working closely with Marshall on the Liquor pillar’s growth initiatives, and over 15 years with liquor group Brown-Forman in various senior roles.
