Coca-Cola Amatil reveals $165m dairy investment
Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) will invest in Barista Bros as the soft drinks giant opened a new ‘state-of-the-art’ dairy line at the manufacturing plant in Richlands.
CCA said the new line is part of a $165m investment in new production lines and warehousing in Richlands – currently the single largest expansion in Queensland bottling facilities.
The soft drinks giant’s latest business move comes with the introduction of a new indulgent range of Barista Bros – Café Creations. The new drinks variety includes three, treat sized flavours: Toffee Almond Pana Cotta, Butterscotch Brownie and Dark Chocolate Fudge, all available in 100 per cent recyclable 300ml bottles for on-the-go consumers.
Spero Carkagis, category manager, Dairy, said the Café Creations range was invented in Australia and taps into the rising demand among consumers for unique tastes and flavours in dairy.
“Australians have always been dairy lovers, but consumers are telling us they are looking for ‘a little indulgence’, particularly for the snacking occasion. Café Creations delivers the benefits of dairy with the latest tastes. Local production also means we can design our range just for Australians,” Carkagis said.
CCA said in Australia, flavoured milk is trending in the beverage culture, with consumption steadily increasing year on year since 1990 to 246 million litres in 2016. Barista Bros Café Creations is strategically placed to respond to consumer trends, with less than 8 grams of sugar per 100mls.
“Dairy is also second to water as the fastest growing beverage category in Australia, especially among female consumers, whose consumption grew 48 per cent between 2012-2016,” added Carkagis. “This new generation of dairy products, perfectly reflects our commitment to combine cutting edge global manufacturing technology and R&D with local innovation.”
The Richlands site is the home of the locally made Café Creations range and is the supply point for all flavoured dairy. Barista Bros – Café Creations new three flavours will be available in groceries and selected major outlets.
