Qld 7-Eleven servo fined for dodging wages

711 storeThe operators of a 7-Eleven petrol station in Brisbane have been fined almost $200,000 for short-changing workers and creating false records to cover it up.

The Fair Work Ombudsman has imposed a $32,130 fine on Avinash Pratap Singh, the part-owner and manager of the petrol station in Vulture Street, East Brisbane, while S&A Enterprises (QLD) Pty Ltd, of which Singh is a director, was also fined $160,650.

Singh and the company admitted paying workers as little as $14.14 an hour, and the company also gave the ombudsman false wages records.
