Costa mushrooms recalled amid plastic fears

Mushroom recallSliced mushroom punnets available at several Australian supermarkets are being recalled amid fears they may contain large pieces of white plastic.

Costa Group, the country’s largest grower, pre-packer and marketer of fresh mushrooms, has recalled the 200g, 375g and 500g sliced mushrooms packets with a ‘best before’ date of July 19.

The recalled product, which is presented in a clear or brown plastic PET tray with film over wrap, is available in Coles, Woolworths, ALDI and independent supermarkets in Victoria, NSW, Queensland and the ACT.

It’s sold under several brands including Woolworths, Coles, Karidale and Costa Mushrooms. There is a potential hazard if plastic pieces are swallowed, Costa said, urging customers to return the product to the store of purchase for a full refund.
