Carrefour China lists stores on Dada-JD platform

brazil-jardim-pamplona-carrefour-hypermarketChinese online grocery and delivery firm Dada-JD Daojia has collaborated with French hypermarket chain Carrefour.

The latest partnership includes listing Carrefour China stores on the Dada-JD platform.

This has already resulted in a 720 per cent increase in the chain’s online sales compared to the previous month. About 4000 Carrefour products are offered online.

There are currently 158 Carrefour stores listed on Dada-JD and another 200 to be listed by the end of the year. Dada-JD Daojia offers two distinct services, the “Dada” on-demand logistics platform (which covers 400 major Chinese cities) and the “JD Daojia” e-commerce platform that has more than 50 million users. It has collaborated with Walmart since 2016 as well as other global supermarkets.

JD.com has also kicked off a week-long sustainability program to raising awareness in sustainable practices in businesses. The World Wide Fund (WWF) and CCTF have partnered with the Chinese e-commerce giant for the second-annual “Green Planet-Sustainable Week” event.

“The spectacular rise of Chinese consumption has been a major force behind the country’s incredible economic story but has also contributed to unprecedented environmental challenges,” said Zhonghao Jin, head of Market Practice, WWF China.

“By actively encouraging its over 300 million customers to recycle and reduce waste, JD.com is admirably leading the transition towards a sustainable future for China and the world. WWF is honored to partner with them. I believe this week’s activities will help raise consumer awareness and accelerate the mainstreaming of sustainable consumption.”

Green Planet-Sustainable Week activities included eco-friendly, reusable shopping bags for shoppers; collecting clothes that are both new and old donations from customers through the in-house logistics network and gathering appliances to be recycled.

“Together with the WWF and CCTF, we are excited to expand our environmental protection efforts, and to leverage our pooled resources to help benefit some of the most underprivileged groups in society,” said Libo Ma, head of the CSR department at JD.com and general secretary of JD Foundation.
