Woolworths has announced that Jennifer Carr-Smith will join the supermarket’s Board as non-executive director.

Carr-Smith is an experienced board director and online retail executive in the consumer packaged goods, apparel and grocery sectors.

“I am delighted to welcome Jennifer to the Woolworths Group Board. I am confident that her diverse experience driving rapid online change and disruption in retail businesses, combined with her international perspective will be invaluable to Woolworths Group,” Woolworths Group chairman Gordon Cairns said.

Carr-Smith has over 25 years of digital experience working at start-ups and large global companies and is currently the chairman of Swap.com, an online consignment and thrift store in the US. She is also the founder and president of JCS Advisory.

She was previously the senior vice president and general manager of North America Local at Groupon and was also the former president and CEO of Peapod, an online grocery delivery service and COO at J.Crew Group.
