Manly Spirits brings a taste of the ocean to coffee liqueur
A Sydney distillery has brought a taste of the ocean to its specially roasted cold brew which hit liquor stores recently.
Manly Spirits Co.’s Blackfin cold brew coffee liqueur combines wheat vodka, Cinnamon Myrtle and distilled ocean water from Manly Beach to create a balance of sweet, malty and spicy flavours with a hint of ocean salt.
The unique approach to coffee liqueur stems from a partnership between Manly Spirits Co. and specialty coffee roasters Seven Miles.
Green arabica beans are roasted before being delivered to the Brookvale distillery where they are ground and cold brewed for 18 hours.
“It’s a painstaking process over some days but the result is a rich flavour profile with soft, floral notes without being overpowered by harsh and bitter components of traditional espresso used in many coffee liqueurs,” Manly Spirits co-founder David Whittaker said.
The striking label represents the free spirit and surfing cult of the Northern Beaches was designed by local artist, Tracy Dickason.
Blackfin is available at liquor stores nationwide and online via the Manly Spirits website.
