The local currency was trading at 70.80 US cents Monday morning from 70.84 US cents on Friday.
Last Friday, the local currency strengthened to 70.84 US cents from 70.62 US cents on Thursday.
One Australian dollar traded at 79.12 Japanese yen on Friday, from 78.79 on Thursday ; 62.60 euro cents, from 62.39 ; 53.50 British pence, from 53.31 and 103.44 NZ cents, from 103.25.
