Cannabis company appoints former Asahi Beverages CEO

cannabis plantElixinol Global is gearing up to become a leading FMCG player in the cannabis sector with the appointment of former Asahi Premium Beverages CEO, Greg Ellery, to its Board of Directors.

The consumer retail specialist joins the board of the ASX-listed hemp and cannabis group, as a Non-Executive Director effective Friday, April 12.

“Elixinol Global has created an exceptional brand with a unique leadership position in the
hemp and CBD markets across the globe,” Ellery said in a statement on Friday.

“I look forward to utilising my background in leading consumer packaged goods companies throughout the USA, Japan, Europe and Australia to support the fast growth Elixinol is experiencing while also providing guidance on effective corporate governance practices.”

Ellery served as CEO of Asahi Premium Beverages’ Asia Pacific division for five years and has extensive international CPG and FMCG experience across a number of sectors, including beverages, consumables, imaging products and apparel.

He also held executive positions for several notable companies, including Spectrum Brands, Polaroid Corporation, Fosters Group and New Balance Athletics.

Andrew Duff, chairman of Elixinol said Ellery was joining at a very exciting time for the company and the industry at large.

“Hemp, CBD and cannabis products are rapidly moving into the mainstream with strong rates of consumer adoption,” Duff said.

“It is an opportune time for Greg to join the Board as his extensive skills and international experience in driving growth align well with our objectives to continue to expand into Europe, Japan and the US, and become a leading FMCG company in our sector.”
