Nestlé launches supplement for new mothers

FMCG giant Nestlé has launched a new food supplement to cater for lactating mothers.

Materna Opti-Lac is a probiotic solution aimed at decreasing breast pain and mastitis.

The supplement contains probiotic strain L. fermentum LC40, which is naturally found in breast milk.

‘’Maternal and infant nutrition are equally important in the first 1000 days of life. We offer high-quality, nutritionally balanced and science-based products to mothers and babies during this period,” Thierry Philardeau, Nestlé head of nutrition strategic business unit, said.

Philardeau said the hard gel capsules will help mothers to continue breastfeeding for longer. The product will initially launch in pharmacies, drugstores, baby stores, retail shops and hospitals in Hong Kong followed by other global markets in the coming months.
