Herman Brot launches protein-packed burger bun

Low carb food company Herman Brot has expanded its product range with the launch of the HermanBurger Protein Bun.

The high protein, low carb bun is the latest in a range of low GI vegan products aimed at fitness and health focused people, those on weight loss programs and people on keto diets.

“The process was difficult, and it took nearly two years to create the perfect product,” Herman Brot owner Christian Coenen told Inside FMCG

“Making it taste good is pivotal and that’s why being a baker by trade, with baking skills that have come out of 170 years of family tradition in Germany, France and Australia have enabled Herman Brot to create the perfect bun. Everyone loves eating burgers, but the focus is always on the patty, not the bun. The Herman Burger is set to change that – particularly in the eyes of vegans and vegetarians!”

The product range is across both food service and retail but Coenen says the biggest challenge with the latter is getting retailers to understand the quality of the product.

“The recent success of Beyond Meat in the USA, has had a massive impact on the industry and retailers and people in the food service industry are already starting to make changes but there’s still a long way to go.”

“We need retailers to understand what the general public are now wanting – low carb, high protein, low GI, plant-based foods. We pride ourselves on having our key nutritional information front and centre on our packaging and we make it very easy for customers to find. There are no hidden figures or false advertising slogans on any of our products.”

Coenen said the company has a number of new products in the pipeline and will continue to develop and evolve these in line with market demand.
