Cadbury unveils Unity bar to promote diversity

Confectionery giant Cadbury has released a limited edition four-in-one Unity bar in India to promote diversity.

The sweet treat, which features dark, blended, milk and white chocolate, all in one chocolate block, is designed to bring together “people of different castes, creed, languages, regions and religions”.

“This Independence Day, let’s celebrate a country that stands united in its diversity. Presenting the Cadbury Unity Bar, India’s first chocolate with dark, blended, milk and white chocolate all under one wrap,” Cadbury posted on Instagram.

It won the hearts of consumers garnering over 7,000 likes on the platform, with users applauding the latest move. Cadbury collaborated with PR agency, Ogilvy, on the latest innovation to mark Indian Independence Day on August 15.

Cadbury and Ogilvy redesigned the purple packaging with an illustration of Indian citizens holding hands, representing different religions and cultural backgrounds.

“India is a diverse country, with people of different castes, creed, languages, regions, religions. Everyone living together, but not always with love. Cadbury Dairy Milk, which is loved by everyone, wanted to send a powerful message of unity. So we worked with the brand to create the Unity Bar: India’s first chocolate made of dark, blended, milk and white chocolate – all united in one bar,” Ogilvy explained on the website.

Cadbury Unity also featured on the Economic Times which printed headlines in different languages.

The new Cadbury Unity chocolate bar is sold on online retail site, Flipkart, but was sold out due to high consumer demand.
