Bickford’s opens $20m beverage production line

Cordial maker, Bickford’s Australia, has opened its new A$20 million high-speed production line
which can produce 18,000 bottles per hour.

Prime minister Scott Morrison and premier Steven Marshall opened Bickford’s new facility
at Salisbury South with owner Angelo Kotses. The project took three years to complete, and the products produced from the new line will be in the market in the coming weeks.

Sidel and Tetra Pak worked with the brand on the new equipment which is one of the few in Australia to feature aseptic filling technology.

“Bickford’s is a truly great Australian brand – one in 25 Australians buy Bickford’s each week which goes to show how loyal consumers are. What is being done here is great for manufacturing – the future of Australian manufacturing is this high quality. This is a fantastic example of how the latest technology can be used right here right now and is a great signal to others that this is a great place to invest and grow,” Morrison said.

Apart from cordials, Bickford’s also produces functional juices, premium mixers, purified waters and iced coffee syrup. This November, the company is celebrating 100 years in the business.

“We are building a legacy that is born in South Australia. This fantastic new technology enables us to take South Australia and the Bickford’s brand to the world – that makes me very proud,” Kotses added.

Bickford’s group marketing manager, Chris Illman said the business will be launching three new products in the coming weeks.

“The centenary celebration for our Iced Coffee syrup coupled with the fantastic technology of the new production line has enabled us to answer a common request from our loyal consumers to create an Iced Coffee ready to drink option. We’re delighted to confirm that we will be launching three new products in this space in the coming weeks with an exciting programme of activity.”
