Cadbury brings back Caramilk

Cadbury Australia has confirmed that it is reintroducing Caramilk after a limited edition proved a hit with consumers last year.

The caramel and white chocolate blend is due to hit shelves once again on October 2.

The confectionery giant made the announcement early on Monday morning through a post on its Facebook page, which generated over 15,000 comments from excited consumers in just 11 hours.

Caramilk was part of Cadbury’s portfolio in Australia and New Zealand before it was discontinued in 1994, but the chocolate made a brief experience on supermarket shelves early last year.

The blocks flew off the shelves and began appearing on Ebay priced at $150 for a pack of seven, an average of about $21 each, which is more than eight times the retail price at supermarket giants.

Cadbury marketing manager Katrina Watson said the bar was brought back due to consumer demand.

“We’ve listened to the asking us to bring Cadbury Caramilk back,” Watson said.

“We couldn’t ignore their passion for our golden chocolate block, so we’re proud to be bringing it back.”

Cadbury is also offering 500 blocks of Caramilk early to raise funds for an Aussie children’s charity. Its Cadbury Joy Deliveries’ eBay store will sell the blocks from this Thursday September 26 with all proceeds going to Save the Children Australia.

Caramilk will be available at leading Australian supermarkets from October 2 at RRP $4.80.
