Nestlé launches Starbucks by Nespresso range
Nestlé has introduced its first Starbucks by Nespresso coffee products following on from the global coffee alliance formed between the two companies in August last year.
The Starbucks by Nespresso capsules brings the taste of the popular coffee retail chain to consumers’ homes, with six of Starbucks’ unique flavours created using Nespresso systems and technology.
The new range was launched on Wednesday in Australia and New Zealand, with Woolworths, Coles and independent retailers snapping it up.
“Evolving our coffee offering to suit the ever-changing lifestyles and tastes of Australians is a core value of our business. We are proud to be working with Starbucks, a global coffee brand that shares our passion for quality coffee and craftsmanship,” Nestlé Oceania director of e-Business, Strategy and Marketing, Martin Brown said.
“We are now offering coffee drinkers the premium experience at home with the Starbucks coffee they love.”
The range includes Starbucks blends and single-origin coffees, made from ethically-sourced high-quality arabica coffee.
CEO of Starbucks Australia Chris Garlick said the Starbucks by Nespresso partnership now provides an “exciting opportunity” to offer Starbucks coffee to more Australians.
In February, Nestlé introduced a range of 24 products, including whole bean and roast and ground coffee for home as well as the capsules to several markets across Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and the US.
Rebecca Dobbins Nestlé head of Café Inspired Beverages told Inside FMCG on Thursday that while the products have received a lot of positive attention overseas, it’s too early to discuss sales figures.
“Although we have already seen excitement with consumers and customers in the first markets where we launched the products, it is too early to talk about sales. But we expect consumers to continue to enjoy their Starbucks coffee they love now at home,” Dobbins said.
While Dobbins did not confirm whether or not the rest of the range would be expanded to Australia, she said that Nestlé “will continue to move fast to deliver great Starbucks coffee experiences to our consumers”.
Starbucks by Nespresso is now available in Germany, France, UK, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, the Middle East, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, the US, China, Japan and South Korea.
