Coles unveils new Christmas range with nod to plant-based trend
Aussie supermarket Coles has unveiled its new Christmas range, which is due to hit stores and online next month.
The range features Christmas desserts including Coles Finest Luxury Melting Chocolate Pudding; Coles Finest Sloe Gin Fruit Mince Pies and Coles Finest Luxury Chocolate, Raspberry and Prosecco Sponge Pudding.
The retailer also launched new specialty Own Brand products like French; Spanish and Italian premium cheeses and Italian panettone made in Milan available at 200 Coles stores.
Capitalising on the plant-based trend, the range includes a new plant-based roast alongside garlic prawn skewers, salmon pastrami, semi-boneless crackling ham and butterflied leg of lamb.
“At Coles we are customer-obsessed, and this year we have developed products which are unique and most importantly delicious for Christmas and the entire entertaining season,” Coles chief marketing officer Lisa Ronson said.
“We have committed to making Coles an Own Brand powerhouse, and at Christmas time that means helping customers to bring magic to their entertaining with this fantastic brand-new range. We’ve really focussed on developing products which are easy to prepare, great value and will help customers impress their family and friends.”
Coles latest research found out that there are over 50 per cent of shoppers who prefer to buy ahead of time items such as Christmas cakes, puddings or mince pie. Aussies top food for the season is roasts with 75 per cent of shoppers buying the food for the holiday spread.
The new range also includes a premium glassware range, and from the end of this month customers can start earning ‘glassware credits’ which can be redeemed for European-made Spiegelau crystal glasses.
Shoppers also find items from the wineglass company Riedel and can earn glassware credits by scanning their flybuys card for every A$20 purchase or more at Coles, Liquorland and First Choice.
Celebrity chef and Coles ambassador Curtis Stone was joined by Australian mango, barramundi and beef producers Marie Piccone, Richard Buczak and Josh Harvey to celebrate the launch on Tuesday.
