Aussie spread Vegemite has unveiled a reduced salt version of the popular spread.
The latest product has 40 per cent less salt than the original spread and will replace Vegemite 25% Reduced Salt which will be phased out.
“Many Australians are actively looking to reduce their salt intake, so we’ve created Vegemite 40% Less Salt to cater to their needs. Vitamin B6 is necessary for metabolism, while B12 supports the immune system. Add Vegemite 40% Less Salt to your breakfast, lunch or snack as a nutritious accompaniment,” said Claire Saundry, Vegemite nutritionist.
Matt Gray, Vegemite senior marketing manager, said the company’s research found that older Australians in particular were looking to reduce salt intake.
“Our research indicates that older Australians, as well as families with children, are looking to reduce their salt intake. We listened to our customers and their changing dietary requirements and created a product that has a mighty Vegemite taste, just with less salt. It’s important that all Australians can continue to enjoy Vegemite for breakfast, lunch or tea,” he said
Vegemite 40% Less Salt is available from Coles nationwide and will be stocked in independent retailers in the coming weeks.
