The Australian dollar has fallen Monday, buying 61.44 US cents at 0800 AEDT down from 62.98 US cents as the market closed on Friday. The local currency plunged to a near 12-year low of 62.13 US cents last Friday amid the coronavirus pandemic that is shaking global financial markets. The dollar had not sunk this low against the greenback since the GFC-lows of November 2008.
