Milo targets gym-goers with post workout recovery drink

Nestlé malt drink Milo continues to evolve the range and this week has launched a product aimed at more active consumers.

MILO XTRA is a variation of the original drink containing 25 per cent more protein.

When made with milk, a glass contains 12g of protein, and is designed as a post workout recovery drink.

It is a low GI drink for a slow release of energy throughout the day.

“We know MILO is an iconic Australian favourite, and we want the classic taste of MILO to be extra enjoyable. Our bodies need different nutrients at different stages, and protein can play a key role for many people, particularly teenagers and active Aussies,” Nestlé dairy business manager Anna Stewart said.

“We’re excited to offer more of the chocolatey MILO taste and crunch Aussies know and love, while providing these additional nutritional benefits like more protein, which can be beneficial for muscle growth and development.”

MILO XTRA is available at Coles nationwide now and independent supermarkets from April.

The drink follows on from the recent launch of MILO Plant Based, a vegan chocolate malt drink alternative to the classic.

In 2019, the brand also released MILO 30% Less Added Sugar.
