Marley Spoon capitalises on baking boom with launch of DIY snacks

Marley Spoon Australia has added a range of snack options to its meal kit delivery selection, to capitalise on the increased numbers of consumers cooking and baking at home.

From June 1, customers will be able to add the snack options to their orders and prepare the snacks themselves using the raw ingredients and recipe card delivered to their door.

Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) shows that from early-April to early-May, when most consumers were staying home, 38 per cent spent of Australians spent more time cooking or baking.

Snacking also increased over this period, with 22 per cent saying they ate more snack foods such as chips, lollies and biscuits.

The meal kit company said the new snacks range will help customers make healthier choices while also learning new recipes.

“Snacking isn’t necessarily the worst thing for your body; it’s what we tend to snack on that’s the problem,” said Olivia Andrews, head of culinary for Marley Spoon Australia.

“Throughout the history of Marley Spoon, we’ve aimed to help Aussies find new ways of eating healthy, delicious dinners with flavours from around the world. With these new snacks we’re able to extend this into the daytime and help more people find creative ways to replace refined sugars and saturated fats with something a whole lot healthier and just as satisfying.”

The first snacks to be introduced to customers will be Apricot Bliss Balls with Coconut and Lime, Peanutty Chocolate Traybake with Almonds and Oats Zucchini and Goat Cheese Muffins with Spring Onion.

The menu will continue to change with sweet, salty and savoury options available.
