Woolworths lifts product restrictions

Supermarket giant Woolworths has lifted all purchase restrictions applied during COVID-19 stockpiling. The last products with restrictions that will be lifted are antibacterial wipes, hand wash and frozen fruits.

“We are pleased to lift all purchase limit restrictions today. This is a big milestone and a positive sign following months of hard work from our teams and significant support from our suppliers to ensure the replenishment of our shelves during a period of extraordinary demand. We are thankful to everyone for their patience with us over these last few months,” Woolworths Supermarkets managing director, Claire Peters said.

But an exception is baby formula, as limits continue to be in place. Woolworths has also launched promos on thousands of items on special in the catalogue as items are now in full stock.

In March, Australian supermarkets reported shoppers panic buying due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Pantry staples such as pasta, beans and rice were in low supply, including toilet paper, hand wash and hand sanitiser.

Last month, rival supermarket Coles lifted purchase restrictions on all products.
