Independent grocer Drakes Supermarkets has adopted GS1 Australia’s Recall service, which serves to remove unsafe products from shelves in stores.

The GS1 digital platform is used by major retailers throughout Australia to find and remove the subpar products from the retail supply chain. It allows rapid communication between trading partners, suppliers and regulators, facilitating removal requests.

“GS1 Recall is another step towards Drakes’ dedication to the delivery of an outstanding shopping experience for our customers,” said Drakes Supermarkets director John-Paul Drake. “Pursuing best practice in the execution of product recalls is an important way for us to help keep our customers safe.”

GS1 Recall adheres to the FSANZ Food Industry Recall Protocol and has been certified by HACCP Australia.
