New Zealand snack brand Tasti has rolled out a plant-based on-the-go range in Australia: new Fruit+Vege Wholefood balls and Protein+ Bars. The Protein+ bar is made of plant protein while Fruit+Vege is an apple-based ball made out of real fruits and vegetables without added sugar.
“There has been an incredible surge in the number of Aussies who are turning away from snacks loaded with highly refined sugars and diversifying their diet with more plant-based meals and snacks,” said Australian nutritionist and wholefoods cook Jacqueline Alwill.
Currently, 2.5 million Australians are embracing a plant-based diet and seeking out healthier snacking options while living a fast-paced life, according to Sports Dietitians Australia. Tasti uses plant proteins, probiotics and superfood ingredients in its new range for children. It also uses healthy foods such as vegetables, fruits, wholegrains, seeds and nuts.
“Fruit+Vege are a wholesome plant-based snack for lunch boxes, with core ingredients of apple and sunflower seeds. A great change from the typical lunchbox snacks. On the other hand, Protein+ includes plant-based protein, fibre, superfoods and probiotics, which help fuel the good bacteria in the gut and support the health of the digestive system,” she said.
Tasti’s Fruit+Vege and Protein+ are sold at Coles, Woolworths and independent grocers in Australia.
