Woolworths has launched a partnership with Origin Energy to create Australia’s first co-branded energy plan, providing Everyday Rewards points to customers for signing up and paying their electricity and gas.
Members will earn one point for every dollar they spend on their energy usage, as well as earning 5,000 points for each plan they sign up for.
The ‘Origin Everyday Rewards Plan’ also encourages users to support green energy, with 25 per cent of the power supplied through the plan coming from renewable sources at no extra cost.
“Our members tell us value has never been more important to them and we’re working to deliver it across more of their everyday needs,” said Woolworths’ Everyday Rewards director Hannah Ross.
“Energy is an essential service and a key expense for households, and we know our members want to earn rewards on it. Together with Origin we’ve built great value energy plans, which allow our members to do their bit for the planet without any extra hit to their hip pocket.”
The announcement follows Woolworths’ commitment to power around one hundred of its supermarkets using rooftop solar panels, as well as building new distribution centres with solar power in mind.
In total, Woolworth’s sustainability investments have so far delivered an 18 per cent reduction in carbon emissions on 2015 levels, and the business has committed to cut emissions even further.
