Calabria Family Wines adds Dow’s Port to its distribution portfolio

Dow’s 2011 Vintage Port

Calabria Family Wines will distribute Dow’s Port on behalf of its owners, the Symington family, taking over distribution, sales and marketing in Australia.

“Dow’s is recognised around the world as one of the premier vintage port producers and continues to set the benchmark for quality port each year,” said sales & marketing manager Andrew Calabria.

Dow’s dates back to 1798 when the Portuguese merchant Bruno da Silva began importing wines from his country and shipped them to London. Dow’s Port is currently in more than 50 countries and it claims 56 per cent of the premium port category.

Rupert Symington, CEO at Symington Family Estates said Australia has a rich history of fortified wines and a great connection to port.

“With the increased interest in our premium wines we’ve been witnessing, not just in Australia, but also around the world, we are confident this is the right time for this new partnership and that it will be fruitful for both companies.”

Calabria Family Wines is currently selling Dow’s brands including Dow’s Fine Ruby Port and Dow’s Late Bottled Vintage Port. Other labels will be released in February, including Dow’s Fine Tawny Port, Fine White Port, ‘Colheita’ Single Harvest 2007 Tawny Port and 30 Year Old Tawny Port.
