Subway to launch licensed food, toys and apparel

Sandwich-maker Subway is branching out into licensed products, the business said on Wednesday, through a partnership with Broad Street Licensing Group which will expand its brand footprint.

Broad Street Licensing Group has previously worked with Playboy on a branded tequila and Burger King on apparel, food and a licensed mobile video game.

A representative of BSLG told Inside Retail the business will bring Subway to both food products and non-food products, including toys and apparel.

The partnership will allow Subway to connect with its fans in “new and unexpected ways”, according to chief operating and insights manager Mike Kappit.

“With BSLG, we will grow our presence beyond our natural borders into other retail environments and strengthen our position as a food and lifestyle brand,” Kappit said in a statement.

BSLG senior vice president of business development Bill Cross said the group will work with Subway to highlight its fresh, high-quality ingredients, and bring new products to its fans.
