Hong Kong craft brewer launches low-alcohol, CBD-infused beer

Hong Kong brewery Yardley Brothers and cannabinoid company Open Book Extracts (OBX) Asia have collaborated on a CBD-infused beer, dubbed Lo/Hi Mango Cheesecake CBD Sour.

The company uses organically grown hemp from farms in the US, where farmers use an environmentally friendly agricultural technology, to cultivate hemp.

“Beer consumers are looking for alternatives to standard alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, and CBD is just the beginning,” said Yardley Brothers Craft Brewery founder Luke Yardley.

“With that in mind, I see the future role of bars as being social pharmacies able to offer an array of options tailored toward the specific needs of the consumer.”

Lo/Hi Mango Cheesecake CBD Sour is sold in kegs, has a saffron yellow hue and low alcohol (0.9% ABV). Yardley says it tastes similar to a creamy mango, vanilla cheesecake. It is brewed with 66mg of CBD per litre using Hydrobond, OBX’s proprietary Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)-free, water-soluble CBD manufactured with global ingredient supplier Prinova.
