Startup business Able Foods has rolled out Baked Beans in easy-to-open microwavable packaging aimed at making it easier for people with disabilities to heat and serve.
Sold exclusively in Coles supermarkets nationwide, the range comprises four flavours. The company created four flavours: Tomato, Chilli, Cheese and BBQ.
“The Baked Bean can has been difficult to open since day one, so we wanted to innovate in the space, give choice to Australians and make this product more accessible for people with or without disability,” said Dylan Alcott, Able Foods co-founder.
Able Foods was launched last year to create food products specifically for people with disability on the NDIS and hires staff with disabilities.
“We are providing grants to young Australians with disability through The Dylan Alcott Foundation to help them gain confidence, fulfil their potential and achieve their dreams. We want our customers to know that by supporting us you are supporting young Australians with disability,” Alcott shared.
“At Coles, we are passionate about improving accessibility in our stores,” said Coles GM for grocery Leanne White. “It’s important for us to create a shopping environment that’s inclusive to millions of customers we serve every single week and that includes providing products that are accessible and convenient to use for those with disability.
“Through our partnership with Able Foods, we also have the ability to increase the reach of the Dylan Alcott Foundation and in turn raise awareness and much needed funds for a fantastic cause.”
Able Food Baked Beans are priced at RRP $2.50 for a 200gram pouch.
