Romeo’s Retail Group to open European-style Sydney CBD food hall

Romeo’s Retail Group is to launch a European-inspired food-hall concept called Locali in Sydney’s CBD.

Located on the lower concourse retail level of Brookfield Place, the food hall spans 1260sqm. Designed by Loopcreative, Locali’s interior features a contemporary ‘fresh food market’, housing walk-in cheese room, fresh butcher and dry ageing room, commercial kitchen, dine-in restaurant, and a liquor store.

The food hall also offers several in-store experiences such as cooking classes, flower arrangement tutorials, cheese and wine appreciation classes.

“This brand-new European market-feel grocer will deliver a refreshing new experience for Sydney CBD office workers and shoppers alike,” said Joseph Romeo, owner and director of Romeo Retail Group.

“With Wynyard being Sydney’s busiest train station, we are excited to cater to the many commuters and create a new sense of community, for as a family-owned business we are truly designed for the locals.”

Locali is scheduled to launch mid-year with the broader mixed-use precinct set to complete within months. The company has signed a 10-year lease agreement for this location with two further five-year options.
