Sydney pizza maker Riccardo the Pizza Artisan has rolled out a pizza range that is ‘freezer thaw back’, which can be frozen then ‘thawed’ or chilled for a period time without affecting the quality of the product.
The company said this technique allows stores to ensure there is no food wasted. Retailers usually have to either mark down the price or dispose of the product if they are not bought.
Riccardo the Pizza Artisan new pizza range is available in Classic and Gourmet ranges. The Classic flavours include, Margherita, Salami, BBQ Meatlovers and Vegetarian. While the Gourmet flavours are Peri Peri Chicken and Chipotle Mexicana.
Riccardo the Pizza Artisan is handmade and is ready to heat in the oven for six to eight minutes. The pizza bases are made using a slow fermentation process, wherein the dough is rested so a marginal amount of yeast is activated before it is mixed, making it a light and easy-to-digest pizza.
The company uses 100 per cent premium Australian ingredients for the dough with no additives or preservatives while the provenance-based products such as white mozzarella cheese is from America, Mutti Tomato Sauce is from Italy and chipotle from Mexico. The pizzas are in 100-per-cent recyclable packaging and all cartons are made from recycled material from FSC certified forests.
Riccardo the Pizza Artisan range is available in specialty grocers and supermarkets throughout Australia.
