Distillery Road looks to recreate famous Chelsea, Borough markets

Upcoming Queensland dining precinct Distillery Road Market has announced it will expand its market offering into weekend markets, allowing a more accessible food-centric experience for visitors.

The market-focused offering, which will open in Eagleby, Queensland in mid-2021, looks to recreate the success of international food marketplaces such as Chelsea Market in New York and Borough Market in London, as well as local markets The Grounds of Alexandria in Sydney and the South Melbourne Markets.

According to Kenton Campbell, CEO of Tonken Property Group, weekend shopping will be split into four ‘events’.

Friday and Saturday nights will see ‘Trucks and Tunes’, which will seek to replicate a street food market for visitors.

Saturday mornings will host the ‘Winter Bazaar’, which will bring in local artisans, makers and creators.

Sunday mornings, on the other hand, will host a growers market to put local produce on show.

“We want friends and family to fill their market basket with the freshest local produce – fine foods, meats, cheeses, baked goods and fresh flowers, or mosey on down for a laid-back outdoor Sunday breakfast with great coffee, of course,” said Campbell.

“This is just the beginning, and there’s so much more to come in 2022 as we open the entertainment precinct, more eateries and a brewery.”

Campbell is also the founder of Zarraffa Coffee, and is bringing the coffee brand along with its bespoke Kiwanda Cafe to the marketplace.
