First Victorian Ampol Woolworths Metro store opens in Melbourne

Petroleum company Ampol and Woolworths are bringing their convenience retail format to Victorian consumers with the city’s first Woolworth Metro store in Sandringham.

Owned and operated by Ampol, the new Woolworths Metro store brings together a range of fresh food and essentials from the supermarket chain with Ampol’s fuel services.

The store houses more than 1400 grocery items, including more than 200 Woolworths own brand products.

“At Woolworths, we’re always looking for new ways to make it easier to shop for your everyday needs,” said Michelle White, GM, Metro Partnerships at Woolworths.

“This partnership brings the best of both brands together and delivers a whole new level of convenience for the benefit of our mutual customers.”

According to Ampol, 13 more sites are set to open to the public before Christmas, including three new stores in Melbourne in Mount Waverley, Elsternwick and Kew.

“We look forward to rolling out more sites across Victoria in the months ahead,” said Jo Taylor, executive GM, Retail, Brand and Culture, at Ampol.

Launched in 2019 in Sydney, the Ampol Woolworths Metro retail format is available across 13 locations around major arterials in key suburban areas of Sydney.
