The Hidden Sea removes 10 million plastic bottles from the ocean

Australian conscious wine brand, The Hidden Sea, has reported removing 10 million plastic bottles from the oceans during an 18-month-long partnership with Danish company, ReSea Project.

For every bottle of wine sold, 10 single-use plastic bottles are removed from oceans and waterways and recycled. The wibery aims to remove 1 billion plastic bottles by 2030.

“To have removed 10 million plastic bottles in the space of 18 months has superseded all of our expectations and demonstrates that consumers – when given the opportunity – will make socially and environmentally conscious choices if they place them at the heart of a movement,” said Justin Moran, co-founder of the brand.

“We’ll be investing heavily to sound the alarm, expand our ambassador base, secure additional retailers and drive more consumers to choose The Hidden Sea,” Moran added.

The milestone follows the brand’s launch into the UK and US markets last year.

The Hidden Sea, founded in 2018, features a selection of vegan wines, including Chardonnay, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. The winery is also solar-powered.
