Sprout Organic wins World Food Innovation award

(Source: Facebook)

Queensland company Sprout Organic has been awarded ‘Best Children’s Product’ at the World Food Innovation Awards for its organic plant-based infant formula.

The company claims it has developed the world’s first plant-based infant formula made from rice starch. It is vegan certified and sourced from Australian farmers.

The infant formula industry has long suffered for a plant-based alternative with soy (a common allergen) being the only choice recommended to infants under six months.

The company has invested seven years into making the product, sourcing high-quality organic ingredients and abiding by Australian infant nutrition standards.

Sprout Organic Founder, Sel Berdie said that the award is a ‘true validation’ of the last seven years of hard work in developing such a needed product.

The judging panel assessed 272 entries from 22 countries across 25 categories.
