Melbourne-based soft drink brand The Good Seed has raised $750,000 in under 24 hours on the crowdfunding platform, Birchal.

The funds will be used to speed up production, hire staff and scale marketing as the business expands its distribution in South Australia.

Launched in 2016, the company produces a range of health drinks, ice pops, and shots to aid in digestive health. Its Sorted range – a 100 per cent natural prebiotic drink – was recently picked up by Coles and is now sold in more than 400 stores.

The CEO and director, Ivy Ong, was delighted by the investor community’s response to the investment offer.

“We’ve only achieved about 5 per cent market penetration in Australia. There’s a lot of opportunities to grow,” said Ong.

The business has set its eyes on the $38 billion global functional beverages market and wants to expand operations overseas this year.
