Yay! Foods launches plant-based feta into Woolworths

Artisanal vegan cheese brand Yay! Foods has released a marinated plant-based feta into select Woolworths stores in NSW and Victoria.

Co-founded by sisters Nergiz Yuksel and Nalin Arileo in 2017, the brand’s vegan feta serves a full-bodied ‘Mediterranean inspired flavour’ they say is much like traditional feta.

“As Turkish Australians, we grew up eating dairy-based feta cheese. Dishes like borek, which are feta-stuffed pastries, formed part of our culinary traditions at home,” said the sisters.

Since the company’s inception, the pair says, attitudes towards vegan foods have dramatically shifted leaving consumers “spoiled for choice”.

All of the brand’s feta is made by hand in Melbourne, using tofu and coconut oil, seasoned with lemon juice, garlic and rosemary.

The sisters believe the product will be a ‘gamechanger’ and will encourage more people to eat less dairy and incorporate more plant-based foods into their diets.

“You don’t need to be vegan to enjoy Yay! Feta. People love to melt the product on homemade pizzas, stir it through pasta or simply enjoy it on toast. You can prepare all your favourite meals and snacks with this product,” they said.

Yay! Foods Marinated Plant-based Feta retails for $14 per 300g jar.
