Sydney brewers help pioneer new beer style

(Source: 4 Pines)

Sydney-based 4 Pines Brewing Company has released a new beer made from Australian wheat, a brew it describes as its own take on the Aussie Wheat Ale style.

The beer is described as light-coloured and offering “a fresh and zesty aroma with pleasant fruitiness and low in bitterness”.

Head Brewer of 4 Pines, Andrew ‘Tweeds’ Tweddell, said the ale was a “contemporary twist” on the traditional wheat beer.

Paul and Helen Barclay, who supply wheat to Joe White Maltings for the new 4 Pines brew from their farm at Curyo, Victoria, said it is fantastic to see Australian-grown wheat being used in a product like this.

Other breweries like Mountain Goat, Pirate Life, Matilda Bay and Green Beacon Brewing Co have their own versions of the new Aussie Wheat Ale style. They are all part of the Carlton & United Breweries family.

The 4 Pines Aussie Wheat Ale is available now at Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores.
