Pernod Ricard’s Champagne brand GH Mumm has partnered with Australian sparkling wine specialist Trina Smith to produce a new sparking wine for the Mumm Terroir range.
Mumm Tasmania is a pinot noir-dominated blend described as a sophisticated sparkling wine “offering complex aromas, warm spices and red berries”.
GH Mumm’s chef de caves Laurent Fresnet travelled to Australia to assess the quality of vineyards in northern Tasmania before production.
“With Mumm Tasmania, we are revealing a new expression of pinot noir, with the same quest for the utmost quality, and in line with Maison Mumm’s style.”
The latest sparkling wine joins Mumm Marlborough Brut Prestige and Mumm Marlborough Vintage Rose, both from New Zealand, launched in 2020.
Mumm says each wine in its Terroir range celebrates the respective region’s “true sense of place and terroir”. In the case of Mumm Tasmania, that means the island’s pristine nature and maritime climate.
The new wine will be launched at the Mumm-sponsored Sparkling & Strings event in Tasmania on October 25. The wine retails for $40 and will be available from all liquor retailers nationally.
