Coles unveils next-generation store at Southland

Coles has opened its new-look, next-generation Southland store, which boasts a range of high-tech and environmental features designed to make food shopping more convenient.

As part of Coles’ commitment to sustainability, consumers in Southland will be able to bring their own container to the deli, scoop and weigh, frozen fruit, fruit and veg bar, and pet treat bar.

While focusing on sustainability, Coles Southland also emphasises technology, such as fruit and vegetable scales adopting artificial intelligence, hybrid checkouts, and a click & collect service with a one-hour turnaround time.

The store includes digital ticketing throughout the fresh produce and grocery aisles to help shoppers find the products they want.

Coles Southland, in collaboration with food rescue organisation SecondBite, will give all unsold, edible food to Australians in need. Customers can also donate items purchased at Southland at a special SecondBite collecting station placed at the store’s front.

Last year, Coles Online introduced a Rapid Click & Collect service promising customers they collect their orders from participating stores in less than 60 minutes.
