Melbourne-based SnackHQ has entered the FMCG market and is targeting growth through innovation in the snacking category.
The business was established by founding members of Gourmet Food, the company behind OB Finest, Olina’s Bakehouse, and Ocean Blue.
“We created SnackHQ because we saw the need for nutritious and genuinely great-tasting lunchbox and snacking products,” said Todd Wilson, co-founder and chair of SnackHQ.
“As we manufacture our own ranges, we can adapt quickly and bring new ideas to life faster, just as we did in the premium cracker category with Gourmet Food.”
The company develops and manufactures all products in-house, allowing faster development cycles and tighter quality control. Its initial offering includes three Natural Fruit Slice bars currently stocked at Woolworths.
In addition to Natural Fruit Slice, SnackHQ is expanding its range with the launch of Refil, snack bars catered for older children and teens.
Available in Iced Chocolate, Dipped Strawberry, and Dipped Churro flavours, the Refil bars contain 9g of prebiotic fibre, 6g of protein, less than one teaspoon of sugar, no sugar alcohols, and no artificial flavours or colours. They also boast a 5-health-star rating.
Julia Clark, Head of Sales and Marketing at SnackHQ, said ReFil was developed to meet the needs of upper primary and secondary school-aged children.
“This is an age group with more independence and taste preferences, but who still need nourishing snacks,” said Clark. “We’re pleased with the positive market feedback and are already developing new flavours, including a caramel variant launching later this year.”
ReFil bars are available at selected IGA supermarkets, independent retailers, and online via Amazon. Single bars retail for $2.75 and multipacks for $8.90.
