Supermarkets boss quits

metcash

Metcash’s CEO of food and grocery supermarkets, Fergus Collins, has resigned after 13 years with the business.

Fergus joined Australian Liquor Marketers (ALM) in 2001 as commercial manager, Queensland and was promoted to GM Queensland in May 2004. He became GM, Independent Brands Australia (IBA) in July 2006, and in 2007 was appointed CEO.

Group CEO, Ian Morrice, will take over as interim CEO of food and grocery supermarkets until a replacement is found.

The move comes after the company delivered a profit warning in December, saying full year underlying earnings could fall by up to 22 per cent when it reports in June.

Metcash supplies to IGA, Foodworks, Foodland, and Lucky 7 stores.
